The historic Rosehill Cemetery Foundation has accomplished much since its inception in late 2002. The Foundation has recruited over 200 members, surveyed over 85% of Rose Hill Cemetery to assess conditions and needs and has been awarded (501c3) nonprofit status. Several workdays have been held to clean up lots, clear brush and vines and prune trees. A significant statue was recovered, restored and remounted. Two other large statues are being preserved until restoration funds are available. Supporters of Rose Hill have published a catalog of Confederate soldier burials and the gatehouse has been restored.
There is an overwhelming amount of work to be done to preserve this historic jewel in the heart of Macon overlooking the Ocmulgee River and the new River walk.
We Need Your Help!!
The first priority is a detailed plan of the entire cemetery that would address all repairs, future maintenance and landscaping. A plan of this magnitude is very expensive. We hope to raise $25,000 for this purpose.
