There are many spots in Rose Hill not easily accessible which I could not in-
clude in the Rambles. So you will have to locate these on your own but I will direct
you in the right path.
The iron-topped graves in the lot of D.W. Hammond. Take the first left as you
enter the main gate-just beyond the Dunlap mausoleum-and walk perhaps
50 or 40 yards to your right you will see these iron-topped graves, painted black,
and also the lead monument. The two unusual graves were in bad condition and
we had them removed, cleaned and reworked and then painted. While this was
being done, we had the brick bases-so badly deteriorated-rebuilt, then the
iron-tops replaced. They are the only ones of this kind in Rose Hill but I under-
stand there are some in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta.
